It's nearly here................

It's hard to believe we're almost round to Humble Jumble time again! With Humble Jumble being on a monthly basis it just makes you realise how quickly the weeks whizz past! We love the poster that Beth has created to advertise the event and think it sums it up perfectly!
There's a lovely selection of stalls lined up with a nice eclectic mix of goodies, including lovely handmade items and yummy homemade goodies such as autumn chutneys and preserves.

There's set to be some nice quality jumble so lots of potential bargains to seek out.

Scoffins will be there to tempt us all with their gorgeous selection of home baked cakes and scones.

And of course, there will be plenty of hot steaming mugs of tea! What could be better than a spot of bargain hunting and a nice cup of tea with home made cake on an autumnal afternoon?

Crafty Helen@Home's Halloween/Autumn Swap

Who are this gruesome foursome? Only some fab monster tea lights sent over from dosierosie as part of Crafty Helen's Halloween/Autumn Blog Swap!
It's the first blog swap we've taken part in and it's really been a lot of fun!
There are these ghost moulds which we are so tempted to use for candles or soap rather than ice...!

And then this lovely bag promising tricks or treats...note the lace trimmed tag - lovely!

Luckily for me it was crammed full of sweets - hurrah!

Then following closely after them was this felty fellow who was lurking amongst the tissue paper...!

But the best treat of all was this beautiful purse, embellished with star shaped sequins and such a gorgeous colour - lovely felting!

How lucky were we? What a lovely idea Helen, thank you Dosie Rosie for being an ace swap partner and I hope that you both have a great Halloween! Nic x

MARBURGER PEEPS~PART ONE

When the term "A Game" was coined they were surely talking about the over~the~top displays at Marburger Farms. It just doesn't get any better folks...

I have always said that I am never more inspired than when in the presence of all this talent. It makes me step up my game for sure...

Here is a sampling of some of the all~stars of Marburger.

MAGNOLIA PEARL. If the creativity of Robin and John gets any better, I don't know how we will stand it...

Huge paper flowers and wire dress forms hand~made and embellished with pieces and parts. I know you've seen these all over bloglandia but I had to include them here.

JUDY AND BILLY HILL. Judy made clothing for one of her mannequins out of book pages and brought a boat as a center piece. Her bedding was beautiful as always.

TERRI is just across from Judy in Tent A and had the most beautiful chandy and baby bed.

This booth caught my eye but sadly I was remiss in getting her name. Her attention to detail missed no element of display.

LAURIE OF CHIPPYS just gets better and better... Her look reminds me of one of my fav movies Out Of Africa with the mix of browns and creams and a dash of gauzy softness contrasting with the leather and rustic burlap. Her pillows literally sprouted wings and flew out of her booth.

TIME WORN INTERIORS. Craig and TOT have an amazing mix of industrial pieces. Their booth was as empty as ours by shows end.

A New Name for an Old Favorite

Part of the process of redoing my living room is making new window treatments. Instead of valences, I will now be using curtain panels. I purchased the new drapery hardware at an incredible discount but everything was a different finish.

To unify all the various components I decided to use my favorite painting and glazing technique.

My number one rule before proceeding with any project has always been “have all your supplies together before you begin.” Too bad I did not follow my own advice.

You see, I started my project only to discover about two thirds of the way through that I did not have enough paint. Although I normally keep a stash of my go to paint – satin finish Valspar Porcelain - I ran out. So off I went to Lowes.

Much to my surprise, however, Porcelain spray paint was no longer available, not on the shelf, none to be found! Panic set in. What was I going to do now?

Luckily, I was able to find a sales person who knew that recently Valspar had renamed some of their paint colors. So the paint was there, it just had a new name. To say I was relieved is an understatement.

Now the old “Porcelain” is called Churchill Hotel Vanilla. You can see from the pictures both cans have the same number listed under their names.

Since many of us love this paint, I thought you would want to know!

So has this ever happened to you? Have you ever began a project only to discover part way through you did not have what you needed to finish the job? What did you do?

MARBURGER FALL 2010...THE REVEAL

I hope you understand that the inbox is overflowing when we return from Texas. There is family time, getting the day~to~day stuff caught up, wading through emails, checking out a few blogs, the dvr list, etc. etc. etc...

I am sooooo behind on blogging by this point...

Anyhoo, without further delay here are pics of my offerings for the Fall 2010 show at Marburger Farms. Happy to report that we came home with an all~time record light load and most all of what you are seeing found a new home.

I am inventory poor...

A great problem to have...
