Our Young Miss Marple!

As many of my facebook friends would know we are very keen 'Miss Marple" fans in our home with our older children. In fact Autumn and I have been know to watch a few very late night editions of these movies. We tend to like the versions with Geraldine McEwan  best but have enjoyed some of the other ones as well.
One of the gifts Vellvin got for Christmas, apart form books was this lovely basket. When Autumn and I were shopping for some gifts I saw this basket and was thinking that would be lovely for carrying things in. Autumn immediately says as I was thinking it "That would be a great book basket for Vellvin", of course the fact she was getting mostly books for her gifts was a given.

So for quite a few days after Christmas  Vellvin was carting around her basket with her books in it. As it is summer and she was outside reading she was wearing this big straw hat and Autumn and I decided she looked like Miss Marple. So of course we added some other items to her basket: some knitting and a sketch book.
I love how Miss Marple knits so much while solving the cases, all the while looking so uninterested in what is going on. In some of the later movies we have watched she is sketching so this goes in the basket too.

Vellvin was quite taken with the idea of being Miss Marple ans was in character for some time. It was lovely seeing how she could adapt imaginative play to her own age and stage of interests. So often as the children get older the whole concept of imaginative play sadly, disappears!

An added bonus as far as I was concerned was the fact that while Vellvin was not interested in knitting before but this "Young Miss Marple" was all for learning.  A blessed opportunity I think and one I seized on immediately.

I love the individuality and ingenious ability of our children to find pleasure in the small things in life.

Blessings to you and your homes,
